Lightning Rod Repair & Service

A lightning rod system only works when every piece of it works. We repair and service existing systems: loose cable, missing rods, broken splices, and grounds that quit doing their job years ago.

Thousands of older homes east of the Mississippi already have lightning rod systems, some of them generations old. Time, storms, roofers, and squirrels all take their toll. The good news: most systems can be repaired and brought back to standard for far less than a full replacement, and we can usually tell you which you need from photos alone.

What we look for and fix

  • Detached or sagging cable. Conductor cable that has pulled free of its fasteners can no longer do its job, and it shows. We re-secure and re-route it cleanly.
  • Bent, loose, or missing air terminals. A rod knocked over by a falling limb or a chimney sweep leaves a gap in your coverage.
  • Broken connections and splices. The system is a circuit. One corroded splice can break the path a strike needs to follow.
  • Grounding problems. Ground rods that were cut during landscaping or regrading, or that were never deep enough to begin with.
  • Work left behind by other trades. Roofers and gutter crews often detach systems and leave them dangling. We put it all back the way it should be.

Service for systems that have not been looked at in years

If your home came with a system and you have no idea what shape it is in, that is normal. We check the full path, from every terminal to every ground, tighten what has loosened, and tell you plainly what is fine, what needs repair, and what is not worth saving. If a system is too far gone, we will say so and quote a replacement instead.

Repairs quoted from your photos

Text us pictures of the problem and we can usually scope the repair remotely, the same way we design new systems from satellite imagery. You get a firm number before we schedule, and we come to you anywhere in our 26-state coverage area.
