Three Generations on the Ridge Line
Residential Lightning Rod Installers is a family company in the truest sense. One trade, handed down twice, practiced with pride since 1964.
Est. 1964
The only trade Bart has ever had
Bart Hamilton grew up in lightning protection. As a kid he watched his family lay out cable runs on farmhouse roofs. As a young man he learned to drive grounds, set terminals, and read a roofline the way most people read a map. Today he runs the residential side of the family trade, and it remains the only profession he has ever had.
That is rarer than it sounds. Lightning protection is a small, specialized trade with no shortcuts, and most of what makes a system last 50 years is judgment you only get by doing it for decades. When Bart designs your system, three generations of storms are looking over his shoulder.
The long version
Sixty years in four chapters
- 1964
The family installs its first lightning rod systems on midwestern homes and barns, back when every farm knew why the rods were up there.
- Second generation
The trade passes down. The crew ranges farther, the systems get cleaner, and the family name starts traveling by word of mouth from state to state.
- Third generation
Bart takes up the trade full time, the only work he has ever done, and builds a reputation for concealed, careful installs homeowners barely notice.
- Today
Residential Lightning Rod Installers serves homeowners in 26 states east of the Mississippi, designing every system remotely and installing it in person, the family way.
What we stand on
Six words we try to earn every day
Trustworthy. Honest. Diligent. Dependable. Punctual. Proud of our workmanship. Those are not slogans to us; they are the report card our customers grade us on, job after job. It is why our warranty has no expiration date while you own your home, and why so much of our work comes from referrals and repeat customers.
